The black widow
Rolls-Royce designed a similar one for King Albert of Belgium. When this car arrived in London from a scrapyard in Texas, it was full of spiders. That was the reason for the rotten wooden bodywork.
This car has both aesthetic and mechanical peculiarities. Aesthetically, we can see a very characteristic snake-shaped horn. It is said that the purpose of this peculiar shape was to remind passers-by that a car could be dangerous.
On a technical level, the Jackson has a hand-crank starting system, but also a starter button at the driver’s feet, something very striking for the date of this model, 1906. In addition, the pedals are interchanged, from left to right we find the accelerator, brake and clutch.
Jackson built this model to carry up to seven people with a three-speed gearbox and reverse gear.
