Arriving at the theatre
This ‘Coupé de Ville’ gave Renault its big breakthrough. This model was the only car to board the Titanic and starred in the famous romantic scene between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
It was adopted in the Belle Époque by the French bourgeoisie, as it was an inaccessible model due to its price, which at that time, at the exchange rate, would correspond to €4,500, but today it would reach €120,000.
It had four cylinders and a power of 25 hp. It reached 56 km/hour and one of its peculiarities was that the radiator was located behind the engine, which gave it a unique appearance at a time when cars were generally very similar to each other.
Although most cars were chain-driven, all Renaults were shaft-driven, which protected the car from the unstable roads of the time.
