The monster
Manufacturers of fire engines from 1867 to 2014. In 1903, American Lafrance partnered with Simplex, which produced steam engines. In 2001, they played a leading role in the fire caused by the attack on the Twin Towers. Some of their models, such as this one, were converted into racing cars.
Due to the power and reliability of their engines, they have been guests of honour at recent editions of the Beijing-Paris rally, such as the one in 2013. This model was found at the end of the 1960s by a famous English racing car collector and driver, Mr Roger Windley, who died shortly afterwards at the wheel of a Formula 1 E.R.A., a very fast car at the time.
Today they can only be seen at a few exotic car rallies in the USA, where the few remaining owners are to be found. This may be the only one in Europe.
