The innovator
This model was the flagship of the new Jaguar range and was unveiled at the London Motor Show in 1948, alongside the equally famous XK120 super sports car, which stole the show, leaving the XK120 in the background.
Jaguar’s origins date back to 1922, with the Swallow Sidecar Company. The company produced its first car in 1935. Jaguar was the originator of the world’s first disc brake. Jaguar’s history of disc brake development with Dunlop dates back to the race-winning Le Mans in 1953, when Jaguar made the C-Type lighter and fitted it with improved disc brakes.
