Eclipse
It was named after its retractable and retractable hardtop system in the boot, features that were to leave an important legacy. The retractable technique was invented by dentist Georges Paulin. This car was buried during the war, making it one of the most difficult vehicles in the collection to restore.
This model was based on the Peugeot 402 platform, but its body was lengthened to 5.20 metres in order to have enough space to stow the roof. The 402 range was very comfortable and spacious, accommodating up to 6 occupants.
Although its engine was not technologically advanced, its four-speed Cotal electromagnetic automatic gearbox was a highlight. This made the Peugeot Eclipse the first car in Europe to have an automatic transmission very similar to what we understand today.
