The renaissance of Cord
With its Westchester sedan body and the most advanced mechanics of the time, it was one of the most striking cars. With this model, Cord was reborn after its collapse during the Great Depression. The car caused a sensation when it made its debut at the New York Auto Show in November 1935.
Errett Lobban Cord was one of America’s greatest transportation entrepreneurs, who had previously been a pilot and automobile salesman. In 1926, Cord became president of the Automobile Auburn Company. Errett Lobban later founded the Cord Corporation, in 1929, with the manufacture of the first model to be sold throughout the United States, becoming the parent company of the Automobile Auburn Company.
