The fastest in the world
Its Jaguar XK120 designation referred to its top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h), making it the fastest car in the world at the time. Of the three body styles, this model featured the Fixed Head Coupé, i.e. fixed roof and generally two doors.
This car was the main attraction at the Earls Court shows, making a great impact on the demanding and traditional English public. It was confirmed as one of the greatest successes of all time in the sports car concept, both in terms of design and mechanics, and all at an incredibly low price of £998. This made it the car with the best price/performance ratio.
Its sporting debut was at the Silverstone circuit in 1949, with an overwhelming victory, claiming the first three places through Johnson, followed by the faithful Walker and Prince Bira.
