The black cat
When Jaguar unveiled this model at the 1948 London Motor Show, everyone knew immediately that it would be a sales success. It was so sought after that they couldn’t keep up with demand – the waiting list was at least two years long! You had to be Clark Gable or Humphrey Bogart to get one.
It was clearly a sporty model, and its improvements over the XK120 model were obvious: upgraded brakes, more interior space, rack and pinion steering, and so on. There were three different options for customers, the OTS, the Drophead Coupé and the Fixed Head Coupé. In 1957 production was stopped and it was replaced by the Jaguar XK150.
