From The Beatles to The Rolling Stones
It was unveiled in Geneva in 1961 and, in 2008, won first place in the list of the most beautiful cars of all time in a Daily Telegraph poll. This model was produced in the year that the British band The Rolling Stones was born. And Brian Epstein, the Beatles’ manager, gave George Harrison a model like this for his 21st birthday.
This iconic Jaguar model was officially launched in 1961 and went into series production until 1975, reaching a production run of more than 72,000 examples due to its widespread popularity. This enduring fame was due to its incredible aesthetics, which captivated motoring enthusiasts. It was developed in three versions, known as the Series, and was available in three body styles: coupé, roadster and 2+2.
The Jaguar e-type is not only a remarkable jewel in our museum for its bodywork, but also for its aerodynamic design. One of its creators was aeronautical engineer Malcolm Sayer, who applied his knowledge to reduce drag and improve speed.
