In 1983, Karl Lagerfeld took over Chanel, and Anna Wintour was appointed editor-in-chief of Vogue USA in 1988.

Officially, Azzaro was never a member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.

Loris Azzaro was a French fashion designer of Italian origin, born in Tunis in 1933, known for his sensual and opulent style. In 1957, his life changed when he met his future wife and muse, Michelle Carsy, who inspired him to design jewellery for her, his first approach to fashion. In 1963, he moved to Paris, where, thanks to his jewellery, he began to gain popularity until, in 1967, he finally ventured into women’s wardrobe and presented his first collection at the Grand Hôtel de Paris.
Throughout his career, Azzaro designed for many celebrities, including Brigitte Bardot, Raquel Welch and Elizabeth Taylor, establishing himself as an iconic name in Parisian fashion. In addition to fashion, the Azzaro brand expanded into perfumes and accessories, cementing its legacy in luxury and exclusivity. Loris Azzaro left an indelible mark on the fashion of the 70s and 80s, being remembered for his ability to fuse glamour and sensuality in a unique way.
