This Cadillac was produced after World War II, a period that brought great success to the brand, as its models were the first American cars to reach Europe. The main problem was the shortage of fuel stations to fill its tank, as it consumed 20 to 30 litres per 100 km.
The second generation spanned from 1942 to 1947, and the magnitude of World War II reduced production and demand as Americans rallied to make the most of their national resources and materials.
The ‘new model’ updates created sleeker cars, with much more striking bodywork, i.e. less round and curvy. New radiators and a ventilation system helped keep the engine from overheating. The Cadillac 62 Series remained Cadillac’s best-selling car, just as it had been after its debut.
