The Marylin’s car
With this model, the old Detroit firm responded to its great rival, Corvette.
A ‘rejuvenation cure’ was needed. Their goal was achieved, as sales doubled. Marilyn Monroe owned a model like this between 1955 and 1962. There are photographs of the actress and her husband Arthur Miller in the Thunderbird.
This model was undoubtedly one of Marilyn’s most iconic vehicles. All indications are that the car was a gift from photographer Milton Greene, purchased on 20 December 1955 from Westport Motors in Connecticut, on behalf of Marilyn Monroe Productions. In this black convertible with seating for two, Marilyn Monroe was driving around with the screenwriter Arthur Miller, whom the actress had married.
