Elegance Award from public
Alfa Romeo, a great racing brand, built models that won elegance competitions such as the Villa d’Est, winning the Grand Prix Referendum, an award given directly by the public, and the Oporto competition in 1949.
This model, with three carburettors and a Vittori Jano engine, won over the most select buyers and was chosen by celebrities such as Prince Aly Khan and King Faruq of Egypt.
The 6C was the last and fastest of Alfa’s famous six-cylinder cars, able to reach speeds of 160 km/h thanks to a lighter body, greater engine capacity and better fuel supply.
The 6C is perhaps the best design of the era and the one that would eventually make Alfa Romeo’s reputation soar. When it debuted at the Milan Motor Show in 1925, the car would set new standards in many categories.
Production of the 2500 would begin in 1939. However, only a small number, just 13 examples, would feature bodies built by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan.
