Hot Jackets (I)
When we talk about “tuning”, we automatically think of cars modified to be faster or flashier, but how far is customisation from design? With this piece, Lacroix demonstrates, by playing with overlapping fabrics and shades, that without changing the basic structure of a jacket, the possibilities can be endless.

While Christian Lacroix is known for his explosive creativity in fashion, in recent years he has taken his artistic vision to train design.
In 2005, he collaborated with the SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français) railway company to redesign the interiors of France’s TGV trains. This project shows that his talent knows no bounds and that he continues to make his mark in various fields of design.

Lacroix was undoubtedly one of the most brilliant designers from the 80s to the 90s and, although he last walked the runway in 2009, he has continued to create with enthusiasm in collaboration with other firms. Examples include when he designed for Schiaparelli in 2013, or in 2019 with Dries Van Noten for his spring-summer 2020 collection.
Currently, the Spanish company Sociedad Textil Lonia has bought the firm Christian Lacroix. They have been captivated by his vision and craftsmanship and have reached an agreement to acquire the Maison in its entirety. The designer himself, who at 73 years of age designs opera costumes, has given the go-ahead for the sale.
